Coincidence Or Plagarism? You decide!

*Spoiler Alert - This article will reveal a key scene in the finale of Lost.

An alarming coincidence has been brought to the attention of the hip hop community today.  The seemingly harmless folks over at Lost may have stolen one of the best scenes of their much ballyhooed finale from none other than Boston's own MC Esoteric.  Observe above the album cover for Saving Seamus Ryan (my favorite album of 2009 I will add).  Look familiar?  Like perhaps a certain heartthrob doctor?   Not convinced?


What you are seeing here is an actual shot from the finale beside an early incarnation of the Saving Seamus Ryan cover. Note the Northern Red Oak trees in the background of the Saving Seamus Ryan photo, or as it is commonly known "Massachusetts bamboo". The photo is kind of small, but I think if we were to CSI this thing  we might even see some stubble on Esoteric here. Something is clearly amiss. Or, more likely, it could just be that Damon Lindelhof is MC Esoteric in a sidewaysverse somewhere.  Gotta keep an open mind about these things...

  4. Sara, I agree that "Saving Seamus Ryan" is great! I've been listening to Esoteric for about 9 years now, his solo stuff and his albums with 7L, his DJ partner. I love everything he's/they've ever put out. For starters, though, I'd recommend "Eso Vs. Japan," which is kind of a concept album like SSR but a bit different (The album heavily samples Japanese anime-type stuff, but you certainly don't have to be into stuff like that to enjoy the album.). It was easily the best album I heard in 2008, and I also recommend "The Soul Purpose," which is a more traditional hip-hop album & a personal fav of mine. Also check out Esoteric in concert if you ever get the chance -- you won't be disappointed.

  5. Jack has a good recommendation there. My personal favorite other than SSR is Esoteric vs Gary Numan - Pterodactyl Tubeway. Also if you can find it get the Demigodz - The Godz Must Be Crazy
